The @serpentineuk Pavilion 2017 designed by Francis Kéré takes its community role seriously. It takes culture seriously, and the role culture can play in shaping our society. Kéré traces the notion of the pavilion back to one of the most simple, yet central, forms of shelter, the tree. The pavilion collects water at its core, from which supported eaves extend and beneath curved walls of wooden indigo blocks delineate the central space. Each layer is permeable drawing light into the pavilion and similarly landscaping draws in a flow of people. This strong and purposeful structure represents the important role of community in London today. Thank you @kerearchitecture. (📷: @harriet_thorpe) #architecture #serpentinepavilion
